Ron Swanson Hates Nature Painting

Wanted to get back to hiking + gouache trips with Juan so I went to his place and we did a practice run at his studio. The most satisfying thing about gouache is watching the colors dry a bit darker. You get to make the stoke then watch the color settle, its very entrancing.

Trip to the DMV

I waited at the DMV today for 3 hours, 1.5 of those hours were needless for I did not need to wait in one of the lines, though I asked multiple people who worked there if this was the right line for my paperwork. When I got up to the clerk at the front I handed him my forms and he said, "why are you here? Go to window 27 for processing." I explained that I was told to wait here for a number, he replied "who told you that, your form doesn't need a number". I proceeded to show him my drawing of the man with the comb-over who was sitting in a car waiting for his next victim of tested, awkward, silent, and safe drive. He gestured like he knew who it was but just grumbled and I moved on the window 27 to continue standing silently and drawing. Here are the sketches:

Sketching at The Hive

Chase was a feature artist at the Hive Gallery's Five Year Anniversary Show last night, it was an amazing show with a tone of artist. Alex Schaefer was in the show too, got to see his new painting up close, truly inspiring stuff. Before I left the house I grab a few sheet of computer paper and my trusty Cretacolor to sketch. There were so many good faces to draw.

Alex shoot a quick video and posted it to his blog, I'm just reposting it:
